First photos of George Frederick Ashurst
Saw this thing in the garden on Sunday, I’ve never seen one before and the only pictures I can find online that look similar suggest that it may be an Elm Saw Fly. But all images and links I’ve seen are in North America or Canada. I’d be interested to know if anyone else has seen one of these fellas in the UK, or if they know what it is.
Bit of additional info, it was about 4cm long and didn’t seem to be scared of anything, it just walked casually along the decking.
As you probably know, Katla is expected to erupt shortly after Eyjafjallajökull, so for anyone interested, here is the URL for the live cam focused on Katla, so when it does erupt you will get a very good live feed. Unless its been melted.
